Awaking of Nature – Arranging 5000 flowers!

2024.12.20 18:07

I created a huge piece of flower art at the Champagne Perrier-Jouet pop-up event “Celebration of Wonder.”
Plum trees that were scheduled to be cut down and disposed of were dyed vibrantly and reborn as art.
Trees are a mass of vitality! We hope that you will be able to feel the strength of nature.
We arranged 5,000 flowers so that guests would be enveloped in flowers and soothed by their overwhelming power.。
Title: Awakening of Nature
“This Ikebana artwork is inspired by Perrier-Jouët’s deep love for nature. The vibrant and joyous art installation stretches across the first floor as if giant flowers have just awakened and came into full bloom, turning a simple space into a scenery with wonder for the holiday season. The piece is created with 20 trees and over 5,000 flowers.Resonating with the Maison Perrier-Jouët’s deep commitment to sustainability, Mika Otani selected materials meant for disposal. 20 trees destined for discard are reused for this wonderous art installation, their forms meticulously painted, elegantly adorned and transformed into a symphony of Ikebana artistry to emphazise the balance between nature and champagne.

We invite you to explore this floral artwork from different angles or take a seat under the art installation to feel the interconnectedness with art and nature.”

It is a large piece over 15 meters long, so it is difficult to convey its realism in photographs, but I will upload some more photos so that those who were unable to make it to the venue can still experience the feeling of taking a walk surrounded by flowers.
A new Christmas view like you’ve never seen before!
