The 106th Sogetsu Ikebana Exhibition

I had the honor of presenting a work at the 106th Sogetsu Ikebana Exhibition.
My sincere thanks to everyone who came to see the exhibition.
For this piece, I arranged flowers in a vessel created by the ceramic artist Kiyoyuki Kato, who passed away in January this year.
As I worked, I found myself remembering the days when he taught me ceramics.
It felt as though his spirit still quietly breathed within the vessel.
Through the act of arranging flowers, I hoped to awaken the memory of creation resting deep within the form—
to give shape to the moment when life rises once again.
The materials are horsetail and driftwood.
The horsetail was composed in response to the geometric rhythm carved into the vessel, and clothed in blue.
And finally, a single blue butterfly.
A symbol of life—
a presence that seems to have returned across time, like a quiet embodiment of the teacher’s spirit.
A reminder that the flame of creativity dwelling within this vessel continues to live on.
